SD Nelson Website

The Client

SD Nelson is an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in the Dakotas. He is motivated to give back to his community, and to build literacy among Indigenous children. Nelson creates books for children that detail vibrant Indigenous community and that honor and preserve Lakota legacy through storytelling and an innovative and contemporary artistic style that engages young readers. Painting with acrylics on board, Nelson’s artwork is wide-ranging, from whimsical to spiritual.

The Project

SD Nelson asked INDIGO8 to revitalize and redesign a website that showcases his books, art, and projects. We replaced all imagery to reflect modern web standards and worked closely with his business manager to ensure accurate copy and usability. The site is designed with red rock colors and uses ecommerce to link out to Amazon and his print-maker for purchases. Frequent use of calls-to-action ensure that users are funneled to where they can take action. INDIGO8 met the client’s tight scheduling requirements.
